Belinda had just finished her hair when she heard the knock at the door. Her hands were damp. In an awkward movement, she wiped them on the front of her red cocktail dress before she walked to open it. It was her first date in a very long time.

Michael looked impeccable. She thought that the only way he could look better than he did in the tuxedo was if he were naked. She smiled.

“Come in, Michael,” she said, knowing that she sounded breathy.

“Belinda,” he said, his gaze on her. He was slowly, carefully taking in every inch of her. “You are a vision.”

“Thank you,” she said. She reached up to kiss him and found that he pulled away.

“What’s wrong?” she asked.

“As I have turned over a new leaf,” he said, eyes teasing, “and have resolved to be a perfect gentleman this evening, I can't kiss you until I bring you home.”

She puckered her lips to tease him and then laughed.

“Well, this should be an interesting evening.”

Belinda picked up her evening bag and took his arm as they headed out. Walking next to him down the hallway, she caught their reflection in a mirror and thought that they made a stunning couple. His fingers on her hand caused a stir below as well. She didn't know if it was his desire to be a perfect gentleman that was making her wish that he wasn't.

When they arrived in the dining room, he escorted her to their table. Pulling out her chair and tucking her in, he took a seat next to her.

“Can I trust you to keep your hands off of me if I order a bottle of champagne?” he asked, feigning seriousness.

“No,” she giggled, placing her napkin in her lap. “You might be groped under the table.”

“I'll have none of that, young lady,” he scolded. He waved the waiter over and continued his game, ordered the bottle before he finished admonishing her. “You have to keep your hands to yourself.”

“Whatever you say,” she agreed. She smiled as she immediately placed her hand on his solid thigh under the table. His muscles jumped, widening her smile into a grin.

“Why are you on this cruise?” she asked.

He paused and exhaled, “Well, I think most of us are here for the same reason.”

“Lots of anonymous sex?” she asked. That was what Theresa had sold it as anyway.

“I was actually thinking that I might meet someone,” he said. He raised his eyebrows at her, as if sex hadn't crossed his mind at all. “It's been a long time for me, and I haven't had much luck dating.”

“You?” she asked, trying to disguise her shock. “Why would you have trouble dating? You're sexy, you're sweet… I'm sure women call you constantly.”

“I could say the same about you,” he said.

He moved her hand off his thigh, intent on having his way. He held her hand on the table, his fingers starting the same slow motion that had driven her crazy just hours earlier.
